Gifts That Pay You Income

You can ensure ongoing delivery of high-quality programming, innovative online content and essential community services while earning an income from your gift.

Charitable Gift Annuities

Charitable Gift Annuities (CGAs) are a great way to make a lasting difference for public media and the audiences who rely upon it while receiving tax-favorable income for you, your spouse and your children. Many supporters like charitable gift annuities because of their attractive payout rates and their significant impact.

How it works:

  • You donate cash or appreciated securities worth $25,000 or more to WNET. In return, you and/or another beneficiary will receive fixed payments for life.
  • Your payment rate is based on your age (payments start at age 65 or later) and will never change.
  • A portion of your payments will be tax-free.
  • The older you are — or the longer you defer starting your payment — the higher your payments will be.

Benefits to you include:

Payments can be made as you prefer on an annual, quarterly or monthly basis.

A portion of the payout will be tax-free.

You receive an immediate tax receipt for a portion of your gift.

Your gift passes to WNET outside of the estate process.

You create your legacy of bringing the arts, sciences and public affairs to viewers whose circumstances may limit their access.

Charitable Remainder Trusts

A Charitable Remainder Trust (CRT) is a tax-free trust that pays you and/or other beneficiaries an annual distribution while reducing your taxes and supporting WNET.

By using assets or cash to fund the trust, you receive income and an income tax credit the year in which you transfer your assets. The remaining portion of the trust, after all payments have been made, comes to WNET.

Benefits to you include:

You receive income for life for you or your heirs.

You receive a charitable income tax credit for the charitable portion of the trust.

You create your legacy of extending the life of public media broadcasts on air and online in classrooms and in our community.
